CampLeadership.org is a resource for idea sharing camp professionals featuring a comprehensive collection of videos of games and songs, expert advice, interviews, and a look at current trends in the camping industry.
We’ve all been there before:
It’s more than half-way through the summer. You’ve started to repeat all the same songs. You’ve played every version of Dodgeball ever created. Your staff have used up every bit of information they learned in staff training. Your camp has become monotonous and repetitive. Where do you turn?
Your staff manual? A book purchased at a camping convention? An Internet-based camp game/song Web site? These are great resources, but they all have the same thing in common. Text. Lots and lots of text. And we all know, camp is not about reading, it’s about people, fun and excitement.
You don’t teach a game by handing out a manual. You don’t learn a song by reading a bunch of lyrics on a page. If this was true, we could just hand out books at the start of staff training and then give our counselors a written test. And although CampLeadership.org cannot train every camp staff in person, we do have the ability to provide an amazing database of games, songs, expert advice, Podcasts and videos that you will be able to utilize to create an incredible camp experience.
CampLeadership.org cannot create this database without people like you. So, if you find something worth sharing, send it to us. If you have a video of your campers or staff playing a game or singing a song, send us a link. We promise to continue to have fresh information on our main page; so you can come back often for the best camp resources we have to share. But we can’t do that without you. Please e-mail info@campleadership.org for any questions or to contribute a link or video.
